Okay, this was wayyyy too hard. Here is my tier-ranked list of every One Direction song! Even the covers. The website I used was: https://tiermaker.com/

These tiers are pretty self-explanatory, it's all in the name. Let's get into it!

Tier 1: Better Than Words

Starting off strong here, these are my absolute favorites. Of course, this changes every 3-5 business days, but we don't talk about that. Count by album: 2 from Up All Night, 1 from Take Me Home, 1 from Midnight Memories, 3 from Four, and 2 from Made In The A.M.

1. What Makes You Beautiful

Okay, it's cliche. Don't come for me. I blast this song every single time. There's not much more to say, is there? I bet you all love it too.

2. Up All Night

This song is a bop! I'll be jamming out to it for hours on end.

3. She's Not Afraid

The only song on my "Better Than Words" tier from Take Me Home. It better be good, and this song delivers. Truly excellent.

4. Through The Dark

I love this song so, so much. All the boys sound great, the music is energetic and lovesick, and I'm here for it. Total banger.

5. 18

This was the first song that really got me into One Direction. I cried the first time I heard it, it was so good. And songs don't usually make me cry. (okay ATW 10 minute version, you can uncover your ears)

6. Night Changes

Everything about this song is on point. Absolutely zero flaws, and thank you Louis for your verse I can't get your voice out of my head ahhhh!

7. Fool's Gold

I promise this is the last one from Four! Trying not to be too album-heavy on one tier, but ohmygoshheavensahhh I couldn't leave Fool's Gold out. It's too good.

8. Perfect

Literally the title is spot on. This is perfection.

9. Walking In The Wind

You will find me...in the top tier because I can't stop listening to this actual masterpiece. One Direction is the king(s) of singing/lyricism in this absolute work of art. This is what music is for!

                                            

Tier 2: Fireproof

These songs are the ones I'd save in a fire. <3 Maybe they're not on repeat all day, but they are definitely close. I had a tough time choosing which songs from this level to elevate to the "Better Than Words" tier. So, here are the close seconds. Count by album: 0 from Up All Night, 3 from Take Me Home, 3 from Midnight Memories, 2 from Four, 3 from Made In The A.M., and two bonus songs.

1. Live While We're Young

Overall upbeat happy vibes. Sometimes, that's all you need. (And the music video behind the scenes DJ Payno is so cute!!)

2. Kiss You

I guess my favorite songs from this album are the peppy, young ones! Oh wait a second I forgot about...

3. Summer Love

The literal perfect summer ballad. It describes summer love so beautifully and vividly.

4. Best Song Ever

How could I not rank this high? It's all in the title. (and the music video slayyyy)

5. Better Than Words

Liam Payne is a genius. And that is not the only reason I love this song.

6. Strong

Biatch this song makes me strong. Not even joking at this point I think I need 1D to survive.

7. Steal My Girl

I know I'm heavy on the singles in my favorites, but they're singles for a reason, okay? And Zayn kills that high note. Every. Single. Time.

8. Ready To Run

This song puts me in a good mood no matter what. I love it.

9. History

Everything this song stands for in the way that it's a farewell to the band and to each other. Like I want to be a part of something that strong, that I can be mature enough to recognize when it's time to say goodbye.

10. Drag Me Down

I got a fire for a heart. I'm not scared of the dark. I'm literally invincible after I hear this song. Don't talk to me.

11. I Want To Write You A Song

It's simple, yet utterly effective in killing my heart. Again and again. I should stop listening to this song now, hmm?

12. Home

I have one thing to say: LOUIS' VOCALS. The fact that this wasn't even on an album. I'm done. I am a ghost now, goodbye.

13. Magic

Another peppy cheer song! Yay! The beginning is so good that I look forward to the rest of the song. And it slaps!

                                                

Tier 3: Stole My Heart

These songs stole my heart, gave it to the 1D boys, and literally smashed it to pieces on the floor. It has disintegrated and now my whole heart is theirs. Seriously though, I still love these songs. They just didn't have quite enough power to be fireproof. Count by album: 4 from Up All Night, 5 from Take Me Home, 7 from Midnight Memories, 9 from Four, 6 from Made In The A.M., and 1 cover. This is the densest level (has the most songs) because I can't not love these as much as I do. I'm not going to talk much about them, because there's no reason to. They are simply good songs.

Tier 4: Half A Heart

Yes, I still love these songs. Just instead of fully with my whole heart, it's only half. With most of these, it's only portions of the song that aren't my favorite. Hey, they can't all be Perfect. Count by album: 2 from Up All Night, 4 from Take Me Home, 3 from Midnight Memories, 1 from Four, 2 from Made In The A.M., and 1 cover. 

1. I Should Have Kissed You

I can relate. Not a top tier song, though.

2. Everything About You

A great pop song lacking the extra flavor to make it a favorite. 

3. Heart Attack

Niall's "ow" is *mwah chef's kiss*. 

4. Rock Me

Eeeh. Mostly it's the message of the song that doesn't hit right. Also something about the chorus bothers me a bit. The rest I love! (obviously it is wayyy better than I could ever do, but I had to rank them.)

5. Loved You First

No I'm thinking about that interview where Louis is sad and says this song is his favorite...

6. C'mon C'mon

Hahahaha people love C'mon c'mon. My only problem is with the title. 

7. Why Don't We Go There

I do actually really really like this song. Too bad I couldn't raise it up a level. :(

8. Right Now

There's Zayn with the vocals! He carries this song and makes it 1000% better. It makes me remember his ah-ma-zayn voice.

9. Don't Forget Where You Belong

A definite Half A Heart song. Half the time my favorite, half the time merely okay. 

10. Once In A Lifetime

The second-lowest song from Four, but still, Once In A Lifetime is elite.

11. Long Way Down

Maybe it's because it drags a bit? Idk, a great song, just not my favorite.

12. Wolves

I love this song. No further comments.

13. One Way Or Another (cover)

*laughs in Niall* The dance in this video is absolutely flawless. Honestly, we need more boy bands that can't dance. Or maybe it was bad choreography? (look at my Dance Moms vocabulary!) I don't really have any problems with this cover. It's fine, I don't skip it.

Tier 5: They Don't Know About Us

Yeah, I forget about these songs sometimes. Sorry. But they're not so bad that I remember them as being some of my least favorites! Bonus points? (no I still listen to them. not gonna skip.) Count by album: 1 from Up All Night, 1 from Take Me Home, 1 from Four, 2 from Made In The A.M., and 1 cover.

1. Gotta Be You

I can appreciate it, but really I'm appreciating Harry's lyric changes. Hehe.

2. They Don't Know About Us

The name of the tier! But yeah, I don't know about you.

3. Alive

Something is slightly grating about Alive. The verse to chorus shift is jarring. (silly, considering End Of The Day is higher than this. whatever.)

4. Change Your Ticket

Don't goooo- but maybe I will. The song feels a bit needy which isn't my favorite. Also, it's the lowest song from Four.

5. Never Enough

I kind of wish I placed this higher now...true regrets. Yeah, it's stuck in my head.

6. Infinity

The second I'm done listening, this song leaves my head. The song after is either more memorable or a skip. I have no problems with Infinity though.

7. Torn (cover)

I love it, but it's forgettable. And I mostly love it for the memories.

                                                

Tier 6: I Want/More Than This

Please, please. I want more than this! Something is missing or lagging in these songs. I'm not going to try to explain it, because I still love these songs and don't want to ruin them for myself. I hope you understand! I don't skip these, ever really. Count by album: 7 from Up All Night (ouch), 3 from Take Me Home, 3 from Midnight Memories, 0 from Four, and 2 from Made In The A.M.

Tier 7: Teenage Dirtbag

Maybe "Teenage Dirtbag" is too mean a title for these songs, but idk. I usually skip these. My apologies if they are your favorites. (I doubt they are lol). So, here you go! The "worst" 1D songs, according to me! Count by album: 2 from Up All Night and 2 bonus songs.

1. Taken

I have no words for Taken. The boys' vocals are good, it kind of is just literally everything else. They were still finding their sound, let's blame it on that.

2. Save You Tonight

Yuck these lyrics. I'm sorry, they're just not hitting right. Save You Tonight is whiny and grating for me. 

3. Irresistible

Your fingertips, so touchable. No no no. Those words and almost the whole chorus give me the ick. Shoo, skip, next.

4. Truly Madly Deeply

There isn't anything remarkable about this song. I do like the vocals and how they merge a bit, but eh. Whatever. I'm too lazy (or nice, depending on how you spin it) to skip this song.

                                 

So, there they are! My tier rankings for every One Direction song. No hate to the boys or composers who worked on any of these songs.
